About Cachly
Is Cachly the same as geocaching.com?
No — Cachly is an official partner app of Geocaching.com / Geocaching HQ. It signs you in through the geocaching.com login page and reads data through the official Geocaching API, made possible by Premium memberships.
Is there an Android version?
No. Cachly is iOS-only (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch) and there are no plans for an Android version.
What is the geocaching.com API?
An API is a defined way for software to communicate. Cachly can only show the data the Geocaching API exposes — some information on the website isn’t available through the API and therefore can’t appear in Cachly.
Which version of Cachly do I have?
Tap More › About Cachly and scroll to the bottom — the version is shown there.
Does Cachly support CarPlay?
Yes — CarPlay arrived in version 8.1 and is part of Cachly Pro. See CarPlay.
Sign-in & account
I can’t log in, but the website works
If your username contains an apostrophe, iOS “smart quotes” may substitute a curly quote that breaks login. Press & hold the apostrophe key and pick the straight quote, or turn off iOS Settings › General › Keyboard › Smart Punctuation.
“Opted-out user” error
Geocaching.com has a privacy option that blocks sharing your data with authorized developer apps like Cachly. It must be unchecked at geocaching.com › Authorizations.
I didn’t get my confirmation email
Check spam/junk, and confirm you typed your address correctly at sign-up (re-register if not). You can also resend the validation email.
Finding & accuracy
Why isn’t Cachly showing all caches on the Live tab?
A filter is probably active — the funnel icon is solid and “Filtering On” shows at the top. Tap the funnel and choose Reset. Note that Basic members see a limited set of caches (a geocaching.com restriction — see membership).
Why does my GPS accuracy seem poor?
Cachly uses the highest accuracy level available to apps (the very top level is reserved for turn-by-turn nav apps on power). Compare with Apple/Google Maps — reported accuracy should be similar. Accuracy depends on your device’s GPS and surroundings.
Open geocache links in Safari instead of the Geocaching app
Long-press a geocache link and choose Open in Safari; iOS remembers the choice. To revert, repeat and choose Open in “Geocaching”.
Add a just-published cache from its email
Long-press the link in the publish email, Copy it, then paste it into the Live tab search field to open the cache and add it to a list.

How do I send a crash log?
Open iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Analytics Data, find the Cachly entry for the relevant time, tap Share, and email it to support@cach.ly.
