Pricing & Cachly Pro
How much does Cachly cost?
Cachly costs $4.99 as a one-time purchase on the App Store — you pay once and own the app, with no subscription required.
An optional subscription, Cachly Pro, adds advanced features like whole-globe offline vector maps and full CarPlay support, but the core app is complete without it.
Is Cachly Pro a subscription? How much does it cost?
Yes — Cachly Pro is an optional subscription that costs $1.99 per month or $14.99 per year (US), and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. Paying yearly saves about 37% compared to the monthly plan.
Cachly Pro is separate from the $4.99 app purchase, which is a one-time payment and never renews. You can use Cachly forever without ever subscribing to Pro.
What do I get with Cachly Pro?
Cachly Pro unlocks Pro Offline Vector Maps (whole-globe OpenStreetMap vector maps with contour lines, hillshade, POI and trail layers, and offline map search), full CarPlay support, Live cache loading that automatically loads caches as you pan the map, County/Region tracking for the US, UK, Germany, Austria, France, and Australia, a DeLorme Grid tracker for US states, and voice-activated logging via CarPlay.
Coming to Pro in version 8.2 are Multi-User Logging and Cachly Intelligence, with Track Recording and HealthKit support planned for 8.3. See the full breakdown on the Cachly Pro page.
What is the difference between Cachly Pro and Geocaching Premium?
They are separate purchases from separate companies. Cachly Pro is a subscription from Zed Said Studio that unlocks extra features inside the Cachly app, while Geocaching Premium is a membership from Geocaching HQ ($39.99 per year or $6.99 per month in the US) that upgrades your geocaching.com account itself.
The two are complementary: Geocaching Premium removes geocaching.com's Basic-account limits in every app, and Cachly Pro adds power-user features like offline vector maps and CarPlay on top. Neither one replaces the other.
Accounts & geocaching.com
Why can I only load 3 caches per day?
That limit comes from your free geocaching.com Basic account, not from Cachly. Groundspeak's Geocaching API allows Basic accounts to load full details for only 3 caches per 24 hours, and that limit applies in every app — including the official Geocaching® app.
Basic accounts are also limited to lower difficulty/terrain traditional caches, plus events and CITO events. Upgrading to Cachly Pro does not remove these limits, because they are enforced by geocaching.com. The only way to remove them is a Geocaching Premium membership, purchased from Geocaching HQ ($39.99 per year or $6.99 per month, US).
Do I need Geocaching Premium to use Cachly?
No — Cachly works with a free geocaching.com Basic account. You can sign in, search, navigate, and log finds without a Premium membership.
Basic accounts are subject to geocaching.com's own API limits (see above), so serious geocachers generally pair Cachly with a Geocaching Premium membership to unlock every cache type and unlimited full cache details.
Is Cachly an official or authorized geocaching app?
Yes — Cachly is an Authorized Geocaching API Developer and an official Geocaching HQ partner app. You sign in through the geocaching.com login page, and Cachly reads and writes your data through the official Geocaching API.
Because of that, Cachly can only show data the Geocaching API exposes — a few things visible on the website are not available in any partner app.
Why can't I log in to Cachly when the geocaching.com website works?
The two most common causes are iOS smart punctuation and a geocaching.com privacy setting. If your username contains an apostrophe, iOS may substitute a curly quote that breaks login — press and hold the apostrophe key to pick the straight quote, or turn off Smart Punctuation under iOS Settings › General › Keyboard.
If you see an "opted-out user" error, a geocaching.com privacy option is blocking authorized developer apps like Cachly: it must be unchecked under Authorizations in your geocaching.com account settings.
Using Cachly
Does Cachly work offline?
Yes. Cachly supports unlimited offline lists in the standard app, so you can save caches to lists and keep finding them with no signal. Cachly Pro adds Pro Offline Vector Maps: whole-globe OpenStreetMap vector maps with contour lines, hillshade, POI and trail layers, region downloads, and offline map search.
Learn more on the Offline Maps page.
Does Cachly support Adventure Labs?
Yes — Cachly supports Adventure Labs, so you can load nearby Adventure Labs and their stages alongside traditional geocaches.
Adventure Labs are played in Geocaching HQ's official Adventure Lab app, and Cachly makes them easy to discover while you're out caching.
Can I import GPX files and Pocket Queries?
Yes — Cachly imports and exports GPX files, including GSAK extensions, and can import geocaching.com Pocket Queries directly.
Why isn't Cachly showing all the caches on the map?
Usually a filter is active — when the funnel icon is solid and "Filtering On" shows at the top of the screen, tap the funnel and choose Reset to see everything again.
If you're signed in with a free Basic account, geocaching.com also limits which caches you can see: only lower difficulty/terrain traditional caches, plus events and CITO events, are available to Basic members in any app.
Why does my GPS accuracy seem poor?
Cachly uses the highest GPS accuracy level available to iOS apps, so accuracy depends on your device's GPS and your surroundings rather than on the app. The very top accuracy level is reserved by iOS for turn-by-turn navigation apps running on power.
If accuracy seems off, compare with Apple Maps or Google Maps — the reported accuracy should be similar.
Where can I get help with Cachly?
Start at the Cachly help site, help.cachly.com, which has searchable articles on every feature. You can also ask in the Cachly forums or the Facebook group, and report bugs or request features on the GitHub issue tracker.
If the app crashed, you can send a crash log: open iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Analytics Data, find the Cachly entry, tap Share, and email it to support@cach.ly.
